Thank you for this piece… But i want to ask. According to you “the use of drum as an instrument of entertainment is a common feature in African society. Then you say the origin of the royal drums and trumpets are through a chain of Igala traditions traced to the remote past that they were derived from the Northern Nigeria and again you say ” the Igala name for the drum ‘Okaga’ which is a derivative
of the Hausa name for it, ‘Ganga’. Does it means the dancing methods, Ocho festival dance, nine was done in the past with cracking of teeths or clapping of hands? How about the masquerades? The Origin of Igala is Igala and everything in I gala culture is I gala else I want to see references to this effect.
